Trump sets a "condition" for lifting tariffs on China.. What is it?
U.S. President Donald Trump told accompanying reporters on his trip to Rome that he would not lift tariffs on China "unless they give us something substantial," indicating his desire for China to open up to American trade.
Trump added aboard Air Force One: "I will not lift them (the tariffs) unless they give us something substantial, you know - otherwise, I won’t lift them. Everything will succeed, these things always succeed."
Trump confirmed that he is unlikely to grant another extension regarding his hefty "reciprocal" tariffs on dozens of countries. This means those countries have 90 days to reach an agreement with the United States or face hefty tariffs of up to 50%.
