#TariffPause U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a 90-day pause on the implementation of most of his proposed "reciprocal" tariffs, excluding those targeting China. The decision, made in early April 2025, aims to give trading partners more time to negotiate fairer trade agreements.

While Trump denied that market pressures influenced the move, some administration officials suggested that rising U.S. bond yields and market instability played a role. Trump stated that if no progress is made in talks, tariffs could still be enforced within two to three weeks for certain countries.

Meanwhile, China has responded by raising tariffs on U.S. goods to 84%, further escalating trade tensions between the world's two largest economies. The pause offers a brief window for diplomacy, but long-term trade stability remains uncertain.
