#BNB The BNB Chain network is about to take a crucial step with the activation of the Lorentz hard fork, scheduled for April 29, 2025, at 5:05 UTC. This technical update marks an important evolution in Binance's blockchain infrastructure, aiming to enhance the speed and smoothness of crypto transactions.

BEP-520, which halves the block time of the BSC network from 3 to 1.5 seconds. This change aims to reduce latency, accelerate transaction finalization, and provide a significantly improved user experience for developers, validators, and end-users.

In addition to reducing block time, the Lorentz hard fork will introduce other important adjustments:

1. The Epoch will increase from 200 to 500.

2. The gas limit will be halved (from 140 to 70 million gwei).

3. The "Consecutive TurnLength" will double, going from 4 to 8.

These changes in BNB Chain aim to strengthen the resilience of the Binance network without sacrificing its overall performance.
