Spokesman Guo Jiao Kun denied reports suggesting that the two countries were engaged in talks or nearing an agreement on tariffs. Guo emphasized that these reports are false and clarified that no discussions or negotiations had been initiated between the two countries regarding tariff issues.

Guo reiterated China's firm position in this regard, stating that the dispute over tariffs was initiated by the United States. He confirmed China's readiness to respond to any actions while also expressing its openness to dialogue and negotiations. However, he stressed that any discussions must be conducted on the basis of equality, respect, and mutual benefit.
