Trump is considering the possibility of firing Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, according to statements made by the Director of the U.S. National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett, to reporters at the White House.

Hassett explained that his team "is still studying the matter," adding that removing Powell "is currently an option," in response to a question about this possibility.

Trump had previously launched a scathing attack on Jerome Powell, saying he is "always late and wrong."
