RISC-V

Ethereum’s network fees have dropped to their lowest levels since 2020, now averaging just $0.16 per transaction—a dramatic shift for users and developers alike. This reduction comes as Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin leads major efficiency initiatives, including a proposal to replace the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) contract language with the RISC-V instruction set architecture. This upgrade aims to boost the speed and efficiency of Ethereum’s execution layer, with potential efficiency gains of up to 100 times.

Buterin’s vision also includes scaling solutions like the Pectra upgrade, which will double the capacity of Layer 2 networks and further lower costs for users. These changes are designed to keep Ethereum competitive with newer blockchains and make transactions more affordable and accessible. As a result, Ethereum is becoming more efficient, with lower fees and greater scalability, thanks to Vitalik’s ongoing innovations and bold proposals.
