- President of 09646763021 has again called for the US Fed to lower interest rates"
"The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Tuesday (22) that he has no and has never had any intention of dismissing the chair of the Federal Reserve (Fed, the US central bank), Jerome Powell.
In recent weeks, Trump had been directing aggressive rhetoric against Powell and behind-the-scenes discussions at the White House indicated that the president was in talks with a former Fed director to take over the chair position.
Still, he reiterated that the US Fed should reduce interest rates in the country, saying he would like a Fed chair who would act preemptively or, at the very least, at the right time to cut rates.
In recent days, global markets, and particularly US stocks, were operating with pessimism amid the tension and distrust generated by the clash between Trump and Powell.
However, this Tuesday, US assets rose again with the indication from Treasury Secretary Scott Bessentt, acknowledging that the escalation of the trade war with China would not be sustainable.
Also at the White House, Trump stated that the tariffs imposed on China would not remain close to the current 145%, and said he believed an agreement would be reached.
If Beijing does not accept a trade agreement, the Republican said that the US would set the terms. But he said the US would be good with the second-largest economy in the world.
Trump's trade policy has been one of the main resistances of the Fed regarding the current administration. The US Fed points to the inflationary risk that the tariffs imply on the US economy."
