Just a few days ago, the BBC reported on the story of Roderick Lodge, a 69-year-old man who was scammed out of £85,000 by a woman named "Anita".

He believed they were in a romantic relationship, and after planning to move to Kenya and marry her, she disappeared. He lost all his life savings, and despite receiving warnings from his bank, Lodge felt completely betrayed in the end.
