Google has opened applications for the 9th edition of its Google for Startups Accelerator Program.

The three-month hybrid program, tailored for AI-focused startups in Africa from Seed to Series A stage, is set to begin in June 2025.

The 9th cohort will include 10 to 15 startups addressing real-world challenges. The program combines virtual and in-person sessions, along with focused sprint projects. In addition, participating founders will be matched with Google industry experts to help refine their solutions and develop scalable business ideas.

“We are committed to building accelerator classes with great startups and encourage applications from all qualified startups.

The Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa is completely free for all participating startups, and Google does not take any equity,” Google said in a statement.

According to Google, the accelerator will feature in-depth sessions and workshops focused on product design, customer acquisition, and leadership development. To ensure impactful support, the company highlighted the importance of founders integrating AI/ML technologies into their products, services, or business operations.

“Startups are Africa’s problem solvers. With the right resources, they can scale their impact far beyond local communities. This program reflects our belief that AI can be transformative when shaped by those who understand the context deeply,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, Head of Startup Ecosystem, Africa at Google.

Successful startups will gain access to a range of benefits, including up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits, expert support from startup specialists, technical training, and invitations to major industry events.

Additionally, they’ll receive 30 days of free Cloud TPU access via the TPU Research Cloud program to accelerate their open-source machine learning research.
