Paul S. Atkins Sworn In as SEC Chairman
Paul S. Atkins, nominated by President Donald J. Trump, was sworn into office as the 34th Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 21, 2025.
Atkins' nomination was sent to the Senate on January 20, 2025, and he was subsequently confirmed by the Senate on April 9, 2025.
This marks a return to the SEC for Atkins, who previously served as a Commissioner from 2002 to 2008 under President George W. Bush. Prior to his nomination, he was the chief executive of Patomak Global Partners, a firm he founded in 2009. His career also includes experience as a securities lawyer and serving on the staff of two previous SEC Chairmen.
