China warns countries against making trade agreements with the United States at its expense.

China accused Washington on Monday of abusing tariffs and warned countries against entering into a broader economic agreement with the United States at its expense, escalating its rhetoric amid a growing trade war between the world's two largest economies. A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated: "The United States has misused tariffs against all its trading partners under the banner of so-called 'fairness,' while simultaneously forcing all parties to start what is termed 'mutual tariff negotiations with it.'

The Ministry of Commerce said that China is determined and capable of protecting its rights and interests and is ready to enhance solidarity with all parties.

According to a report by Reuters, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated that Beijing will strongly oppose any party that makes an agreement at China's expense and "will take strong and reciprocal countermeasures."

The Chinese commerce department responded to a Bloomberg report citing informed sources that the Trump administration is preparing to pressure countries seeking to lower tariffs or obtain exemptions to limit trade with China, including imposing financial sanctions.
