Vitalik Buterin's proposal to replace the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) is no surprise for anyone paying attention.

The EVM is an old and broken design.

It lacks scalability, performance, and security.

Despite being highly shilled by so-called experts.

However, building something new from the ground up would be extremely hard, resource-consuming, and would likely break the network effects that is one of the few things that somewhat still keeps $ETH relevant.

There are a few blockchains that already solved these issues by designing something new and offer better scalability, performance, and security.
