1️⃣ Metaplanet Buys Additional 330 BTC 💸
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has reportedly purchased an additional 330 BTC worth $28.2 million at an average price of $85,605 per BTC. Notably, this is the firm’s third BTC purchase this month. The latest purchase brings its overall holdings to 4,855 BTC, worth over $420 million. The overall average purchase price for its total holdings stands at $89,928 per BTC.
2️⃣ Blocksquare, Vera Capital Ink Deal To Tokenize $1B In US Real Estate 💰
Real-world asset (RWA) tokenization platform Blocksquare has reportedly partnered with Florida-based real estate company Vera Capital to offer users fractional ownership of US commercial properties valued at over $1 billion. The firms announced they would be launching a marketplace in the coming weeks. This marketplace will reportedly feature tokenised shares in “dozens of properties” located across seven US states. The first group of tokenized properties up for sale are part of Vera Group’s existing holdings, which include a three-storey office building in Fort Lauderdale and a retail plaza in Dania Beach.
3️⃣ Bitget Will Roll Back Trades, Compensate Users After 'Abnormal' VOXEL Trading Activity ▶️
Crypto exchange Bitget has announced that it will roll back trades and compensate users after it discovered "abnormal trading activity" on the VOXEL/USDT perpetual futures contract on April 20. It also paused accounts that it suspected of market manipulation. Notably, one X user reported six-figure profits from an investment under $100. Though this will likely be erased with Bitget’s plan to roll back all trades in the market.
Addressing the incident, Bitget stated,
Upon investigation, certain accounts were found to have potentially engaged in market manipulation, triggering our risk control system. To ensure a fair and secure trading environment, Bitget will initiate a rollback of irregular trades within 24 hours...[for users who] incurred losses during this period, a compensation plan will be offered.
4️⃣ Vitalik Buterin Proposes Swapping EVM Language For RISC-V ‼️
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has floated a "radical" long-term proposal that seeks to replace the current Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) contract language with the RISC-V instruction set architecture. The proposal states that this will improve the speed and efficiency of the Ethereum network's execution layer. Buterin argued that implementing the RISC-V architecture in smart contracts would keep block production markets competitive and improve the efficiency of zero knowledge functions for the execution layer.
He wrote,
The beam chain effort holds great promise for greatly simplifying the consensus layer of Ethereum, but for the execution layer to see similar gains, this kind of radical change may be the only viable path.
5️⃣ Stablecoin Giant Circle Is Launching a New Payments and Remittance Network ⚡️
Stablecoin issuer Circle is reportedly launching a new payments and cross border remittance network on Tuesday. The launch event is scheduled to take place at the company’s headquarters on the 87th Floor of One World Trade Center. Invites for the event have been sent to banks, fintechs, payment service providers, remittance providers and USDC strategic partners. According to a person familiar with the matter, the new payments network seeks to rival Mastercard and Visa.
