Trump is very serious about firing Powell and he can do it.
But Trump knows that if he removes Jerome Powell, it could lead to a deep recession and the collapse of the transparent structure of the U.S. economy.
It would be similar to what happened with the Turkish lira—when Turkey interfered with the Central Bank's affairs, investors lost trust, the lira collapsed, and people started using Bitcoin and the U.S. dollar more than the local currency.
It would be like the Nixon Shock disaster (robbing nations by exchanging gold for dollars, linking gold to the dollar, and the dollar to oil).
