Unpopular opinion: Jesus stood against the Roman Empire, its governors, and the religious elites of that time.

He was killed because of that.

He came with a message of peace in times of war, and freedom for a people who had been conquered and made slaves by the Empire.

He died for that.

Most of today’s religious elites forgot about this historical context and what Jesus represented at that time.

They became allies of today’s “Empires”, using the bible and people’s beliefs to manipulate them and make them slaves.

Jesus would probably be “killed” once again if he came with the same attitude of 2,000 years ago. And likely, in part, by those who call themselves Christians. 🤷
