Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap, has called on the Ethereum community to accelerate the adoption of Layer 2 (L2) solutions to address scalability challenges and remain competitive with Solanaโ€™s high-performance blockchain. Adams emphasized that while Ethereum benefits from strong network effects and a thriving DeFi ecosystem, its Layer 1 limitations hinder its ability to deliver a seamless and cost-effective user experience.

Solanaโ€™s architectureโ€”leveraging Proof-of-History (PoH) and Proof-of-Stake (PoS)โ€”enables high throughput and low fees, making it increasingly attractive for developers and users. In contrast, Ethereumโ€™s path to scalability centers on L2 technologies such as Optimistic Rollups (e.g., Arbitrum, Optimism) and Zero-Knowledge Rollups (e.g., zkSync, StarkNet), which process transactions off-chain while maintaining Ethereumโ€™s security model.

Adams stressed the urgency of L2 adoption, highlighting that improved scalability is essential for enhancing user experience, reducing gas fees, and ensuring Ethereum-based applications remain competitive in the evolving Web3 landscape.
