Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap, has called on the Ethereum community to accelerate the adoption of Layer 2 (L2) solutions to address scalability challenges and remain competitive with Solanaโs high-performance blockchain. Adams emphasized that while Ethereum benefits from strong network effects and a thriving DeFi ecosystem, its Layer 1 limitations hinder its ability to deliver a seamless and cost-effective user experience.
Solanaโs architectureโleveraging Proof-of-History (PoH) and Proof-of-Stake (PoS)โenables high throughput and low fees, making it increasingly attractive for developers and users. In contrast, Ethereumโs path to scalability centers on L2 technologies such as Optimistic Rollups (e.g., Arbitrum, Optimism) and Zero-Knowledge Rollups (e.g., zkSync, StarkNet), which process transactions off-chain while maintaining Ethereumโs security model.
Adams stressed the urgency of L2 adoption, highlighting that improved scalability is essential for enhancing user experience, reducing gas fees, and ensuring Ethereum-based applications remain competitive in the evolving Web3 landscape.
