Canary Capital has filed a groundbreaking proposal with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the first-ever TRX exchange-traded fund (ETF) that incorporates staking. This ETF aims to hold spot TRX tokens and stake a portion to generate an estimated 4.5% annual yield, offering investors both price exposure and passive income.

Tron founder Justin Sun confirmed the filing on April 19, 2025, describing it as “a giant leap for TRX’s mainstream adoption” . Following the announcement, TRX’s price surged by 12% within an hour, reaching $0.145, and trading volume more than doubled to 3.2 billion TRX.

If approved, the Canary Staked TRX ETF would be the first U.S. crypto ETF to include staking from inception, potentially setting a precedent for future staking-enabled ETFs . The fund plans to use BitGo as custodian and CSC Delaware Trust as trustee.

This development could significantly enhance TRX’s appeal to institutional investors, marking a pivotal moment in the integration of cryptocurrency into mainstream financial products.
