#TrumpVsPowell Donald Trump has expressed on several occasions his dissatisfaction with Jerome Powell, chairman of the Federal Reserve. Recently, he has hinted that if he returns to the presidency, he would consider firing him or not renewing his term. Trump criticizes Powell for his decisions on interest rates and for not sufficiently supporting economic growth during his previous term. Although legally firing the chairman of the Federal Reserve is not easy, Trump has made it clear that he would seek ways to influence monetary policy. This could create uncertainty about the independence of the central bank if it comes to fruition.
