U.S. President D. Trump, along with his team, continues to explore the possibility of firing the head of the Federal Reserve (Fed) J. Powell, stated the director of the National Economic Council of the administration K. Hassett.
On Thursday, D. Trump stated that the head of the U.S. Federal Reserve, J. Powell, should have "long ago" lowered the key rate and urged him to step down. Earlier, J. Powell at an event of the Economic Club of Chicago stated that the level of tariffs imposed by the D. Trump administration turned out to be significantly higher than expected, and the consequences of such an increase will include rising inflation in the country and slowing economic growth.
"The President and his team will continue to study this," said K. Hassett to reporters in response to a question about whether D. Trump is considering the possibility of firing J. Powell.
