#TrumpVsPowell US President Donald Trump entered into a sharp dispute with the head of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, after his critical statements regarding Trump's trade policy.
Trump wrote about this on his social network Truth Social.
"Oil prices are falling, food prices (even eggs!) are falling, and the US is GETTING RICH FROM TARIFFS.
Powell's dismissal can't come fast enough!" - Trump wrote. He also demanded that Powell lower the key interest rate, following the example of the European Central Bank, which on Thursday lowered it for the second time in two months - to 2.4%.
As noted by CNN, Trump's post was a response to Powell's statements during a speech at the Economic Club of Chicago, where he stated that Trump's unprecedented tariff policy could lead to unpredictable consequences, including high unemployment and rapid inflation, which the Federal Reserve is obligated to contain as much as possible.
