Self-proclaimed as a life winner despite being a mediocre master's student from Tsinghua. Let's take a look at his narrative:
In 2011, I graduated from a top 2 mediocre master's program, married my girlfriend from the medical school in April, and successfully joined a company under the Chinese Academy of Sciences in June, working on FPGA hardware development with a monthly salary of 8,800, and I also resolved my Beijing household registration.
In 2012, I settled my Beijing household registration at the beginning of the year and received the collective household registration card.
In July, my team leader changed jobs, and I also followed suit to change jobs to the global number one FPGA company Xilinx (now acquired by AMD), with my monthly salary rising to 12,000, along with a small amount of US stock RSUs.
In 2013, I bought a 65 square meter old apartment in a community on Huilongguan East Street, continuing to work at Xilinx with no change in salary.
In 2014, I changed jobs to a certain Huangyi, responsible for Java server-side work, with an annual package of about 190,000, and received about 20,000 shares of options for a proposed internal spin-off subsidiary, but later, due to industry regulation, these options became worthless.
In 2015, I changed jobs to a certain Bd, still working on Java server-side, with an annual package of 350,000.
In 2016, I changed jobs again to a certain company, responsible for Java server-side and big data-related work, with an annual package of over 450,000. At the end of the year, I sold my first apartment on Huilongguan East Street.
In 2017, I bought a 98+ square meter apartment in Haidian Xierqi and a 60+ square meter old apartment in Dongxiaokou, and my finances became tight. At the end of the year, I changed jobs to a WiFi tool company’s Beijing R&D center, with an annual package of pure cash >1 million (according to the claimed 24 salary structure, but not all was realized).
In 2018, at the beginning of the year, I spent over 300,000 to buy a 2018 BMW X1. Since I didn't win a Beijing license plate, I had to use an external license plate from Meng A. By the end of the year, my wife completed her postdoctoral research and joined a 985 university.
In 2019, at the beginning of the year, I joined a large tech company, and my salary had a normal increase from changing jobs, which should be understood by all programmers. At the beginning of the year, I also bought a 60+ square meter old small two-bedroom apartment on Wanyuan East Road in Haidian.
In 2020, at the end of August, I was lucky enough to get a Beijing license plate for a gasoline vehicle. By the end of December, my wife's unit confirmed the housing allocation, which was a small two-bedroom in Fengtai.
In 2021, I paid over 450,000 as a down payment for a housing allocation in Fengtai. In April, I spent over 440,000 to buy a BMW X3, gave up the license plate 12123 customized for Beijing AWC3**, and got a Beijing K plate. In October, I drove along the 318 road, and in November, I received a very small portion of stock options from the repurchase.
In 2022, at the beginning of the year, I reviewed the price increase of my two properties in Shanghai in 2021 (each had a price increase of basically 1.5 million to 2 million, with the average price in Haidian at 87,000 at the beginning of the year and 98,000 at the end; some popular school districts saw price increases starting at 20,000...) and found that the increase in property prices actually outpaced my salary, which made me a bit annoyed.
In 2023, at the beginning of the year, I completed 4 years at a large tech company, received thousands of stock options, and had considerable funds on hand, beginning to plan for buying my 5th apartment in Beijing, but I had already used up my individual housing quota, which troubled me greatly.
In 2024, the portion of stock options repurchased in May was credited, and with the year-end bonus credited in March, I made a big investment in June to buy an old apartment in Chaoyang District, and I got the property deed in early July. In early November, my wife finally completed the payment for her new small two-bedroom apartment in Fengtai allocated at the end of 2020.
Looking back over the past ten years, all four apartments I bought in Haidian, Chaoyang, and Changping were old and small second-hand apartments, and in the end, I had to rely on my wife to experience living in a new home. In December, the TT US ban legislation was about to take effect, and I had been at the large tech company for almost 6 years, planning to leave.
In 2025, the annual package increased by more than 20% when I changed jobs.
I do not aspire to offer advice to the country; I only seek a happy life and peace for my family...
