China will not engage in a "meaningless number game" with the U.S. after some of its export items face cumulative tariffs of up to 245%.

China's Ministry of Commerce believes this move has "blatantly exposed the U.S. turning tariffs into tools, a.k.a. weapons irrationally." The country will not fear prolonged trade conflicts; the U.S. needs to proceed on the basis of mutual respect and equality.

Washington has stated that Trump is willing to make a trade deal, but China must be the first to act, emphasizing "China needs U.S. money."
