Out of greed or naivety, dozens of people were left without money in San Carlos. The alleged cryptocurrency investment platform "HV IJEX" collapsed and left the savings of many people in Río San Juan up in the air. This platform operated in several countries, including Colombia and Venezuela.
Several of the affected claim that they invested thousands of dollars with the promise of making money easily and quickly, but in the end, it all turned out to be a scam.
HV IJEX offered daily returns and high profits in a short time. Many users trusted that their investment would grow in 30 days, and some even invited their friends or family to participate to obtain a bonus. What they did not know is that this type of platform operates like a pyramid scheme: those who join first receive money that actually comes from the new entrants. There is no real business or true investments. Money is simply moved from one side to another until it runs out.
When no new users with money come in, the system collapses because there is no way to continue paying. That's what happened with HV IJEX. Since April 9, rumors started that something was wrong, and by Monday the 14th, the platform had already disappeared. Most lost everything they had invested.
On social media, many began to complain, to post memes, and others simply accepted the loss. Some were upset with those who invited them to the project, but there are also those who recognize that no one forced them and that they should have researched better before investing their money. The truth is that in San Carlos, many families were affected, some with debts or with years of savings lost.
