#美国半导体关税
The United States has overturned the table again, this time targeting Chinese chips?
1/ Recently, the United States is going to impose tariffs on Chinese semiconductors again - not symbolically, but seriously!
On the surface, it is said to be "protecting local industries", but in fact, it just doesn't want Chinese chips to be rolled up to the high-end.
2/ Why are chips so sensitive?
Because now is the AI era, chips = arms. Whoever controls chips controls computing power, intelligence, and the future.
The United States is not afraid that we can't do it, but afraid that we really can do it!
3/ What is the current level of Chinese chips? In a word: much more powerful than you think.
• Domestic lithography machines can be used
• SMIC has mass-produced 7nm
• Huawei chips are back (remember Kirin 9000S?)
• Materials, packaging, EDA domestic substitution are all accelerating
In the past, they were begging to buy, but now they are: they can do it themselves
4/ Can this wave of US tax increases really suppress China? In fact, it is likely to have the opposite effect.
The more severe the increase, the faster China will work.
Being pushed into a corner, progress is not measured in years, but in months!
5/ What’s even more embarrassing is that the US chip manufacturers themselves are also panicking.
Nvidia, AMD, Intel and other giants are making a lot of money in China.
If you increase taxes, once the Chinese market is replaced by domestic products, it will never come back!
6/ To sum up in one sentence:
“It’s not that chips cannot do without the United States, it’s that American chips cannot do without China.”
It’s hard to say who will have the last laugh in this game.
