The Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, stated that the Trump administration's decision on Friday to exempt electronic devices, such as smartphones, iPhones, and laptops, from tariffs was only a temporary measure, but those products will face separate levies, adding more confusion to the already chaotic implementation of tariffs on Chinese products.

"Electronic products are exempt from reciprocal tariffs, but they are included in the tariffs on semiconductors, which will likely take effect in one or two months," Lutnick said on Sunday to ABC News' "This Week" host, Jonathan Karl.

In the coming months, tariffs targeting specific commercial sectors will be imposed on certain key products for national security, which "will not be available for negotiation," Lutnick stated.
