#BinanceSafetyInsights ⚠️🚨 Attention, crypto community! A new and dangerous malware called “Crocodilus” has been detected on Android devices, and its main target is your cryptocurrency wallets. 🕵️♂️🔐
What is “Crocodilus”? 🐊
“Crocodilus” is an advanced banking trojan that has recently been identified by the cybersecurity firm ThreatFabric. This malware infiltrates your Android device through malicious apps disguised as legitimate ones, known as “droppers”. Once inside, it requests accessibility permissions to take full control of your device. 📲🛡️
How does it operate? 🎭
Once installed, “Crocodilus” establishes communication with a command and control (C2) server, from where it receives instructions to attack specific applications, mainly banks and cryptocurrency wallets. It uses fake overlays that mimic the interfaces of these applications to deceive you and obtain your credentials. 🏦🎭
Additionally, this malware acts as an accessibility logger, monitoring all on-screen events and capturing sensitive information, including one-time authentication codes (OTP) from apps like Google Authenticator. 🔍🔑
Why is it concerning? 🚨
Credential theft: Captures your login data for banking and crypto wallet apps. 🧾💳
Full control of the device: It can execute remote commands and carry out fraudulent transactions without you realizing it. 🤖📉
Interception of OTPs: It can even obtain your two-factor authentication codes, further compromising your security. 🔐📲
How to protect yourself? 🛡️
Download apps only from official sources, such as Google Play Store. 🏬✅
Keep your Android operating system updated and enable Google Play Protect. 🔄🔒
Do not grant accessibility permissions to unknown or suspicious apps. 🚫👀
Be cautious with messages urging you to take urgent actions, such as backing up your wallet key in a short period of time. 🕰️⚠️
