Dudes, I've been having trouble figuring this thing out for a long time. We got this cool thing called bitcoin. It's mined using essentially useless calculations. A huge amount of electricity is essentially wasted. Or am I missing the point? Why isn't there a fork of bitcoin whose computing power is used to find new organic compounds or weather forecasts? Can someone explain
