#SecureYourAssets As cryptocurrency trading becomes increasingly common, cybersecurity teams have observed that cybercriminals are becoming even more creative and persistent in their attempts to steal assets.

When someone successfully accesses one of your accounts to carry out fraudulent activity, it is referred to as "account takeover" or "ATO". A common method to gain access is through "SIM swapping". In a SIM swapping attack, scammers contact your mobile carrier posing as you and convince customer service to redirect your service to another device, changing the SIM card number associated with your account (hence the name of the attack). Once they succeed, they can receive all calls and SMS messages sent to your phone number, including any two-factor authentication codes that have been sent to you via SMS. From there, scammers often associate those two-factor authentication (2FA) codes with stolen passwords in an attempt to access your email account, social media profiles, cloud storage accounts like Dropbox, or financial accounts.
