During an interview at the 2025 Web3 Festival in Hong Kong, Steve Yun – a board member of the TON Foundation – presented the key directions for the development of the TON ecosystem.

During the conversation, the issue of the over $400 million investment from the secondary market was discussed, which – although it does not go directly to the foundation – has a significant impact on the entire Toncoin community and miners. The TON Foundation emphasizes that instead of temporary incentives from liquidity provision rewards, the foundation for further development should be the construction of a lasting DeFi ecosystem. As part of these efforts, a comprehensive offering is being developed, including loan protocols, futures-based solutions, decentralized exchanges with limit orders, and dynamic liquidity systems.

One of the most important advancements is also the introduction of improvements to the asynchronous architecture of the TON network. Thanks to this change, transactions do not have to wait for the confirmation of previous operations – significantly increasing the scalability and efficiency of the network. At the same time, work is underway to develop a new programming language that will replace the existing, less developer-friendly FunC language, as well as to implement so-called 'workchains' – solutions similar to parachains, but better integrated with the main chain.

An important element of the TON strategy is also the BTC bridging mechanism – tgBTC. This innovative solution allows the use of Bitcoin in the DeFi ecosystem without the risk of centralized management and the possibility of freezing funds by the issuer.

The policy towards the US market is also changing. After a period of retreating from contacts with American companies due to earlier regulatory issues, the TON Foundation has decided to actively collaborate with local entities. The company plans, among other things, to introduce the TON Space wallet for American users and to establish a representation in the USA.

In addition to expanding into the United States, the TON Foundation is leveraging experiences from Asia and the Pacific, where the super app, Telegram, is already widely popular. Through these efforts, the TON Foundation aims to attract 500 million users.
