#TrumpTariffs š¤ Is Trump going full Machiavelli with these tariffs?
Thereās a theory floating around that President Trump might be pulling moves straight out of Machiavelliās The Prince ā you know, the book that teaches rulers how to keep power in messy times.
One quote from Chapter 8 hits hard:
š āIf it is necessary to injure a man, do it so severely that he need not fear revenge from him.ā
The idea? If you have to cause pain, do it once and decisively ā no slow burn. Hurt them enough so they canāt hit back, and then move on quickly to recovery and stability.
Now think about this:
Trumpās tariffs didnāt just hit one or two countries ā they hit nearly everyone, all at once. The shock was real. But some analysts say that might be the point ā a full-blown strike to force fast negotiations and settle the market before the 2026 elections.
And there's more...
In another part of The Prince, Machiavelli tells the story of Cesare Borgia ā he used a ruthless general to clean up a chaotic region, then publicly executed him to win back public favor. Brutal. But effective.
Sound familiar?
Lately, weāre seeing some tension behind the scenes:
Bill Ackman called out Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick for having a conflict of interest ā his firm profits from the chaos.
And Peter Navarro, one of Trumpās own advisors, just took a shot at Elon Musk, saying Muskās free-trade talk is just about protecting Tesla.
All this might be random noise... or maybe weāre about to see a political āsacrificeā to calm the storm.
š History repeats ā or at least rhymes.
