Trump's direct quote: "The United States cannot lose $1.9 trillion in trade. We cannot allow this, especially while spending large amounts on NATO to defend European countries. We are covering them militarily, yet we are suffering trade losses".

Details: According to him, Europe wants to come to the negotiating table, but he stated that this will not happen "until they start paying us a lot of money every year - initially for the present, but also for the past, because they have taken a lot of our wealth, and we will not allow this anymore".
