"Relative Volume" (often abbreviated as RVOL) is a measure used in trading to compare the current trading volume of a stock to its average volume over a specific period (usually the last 10 or 20 trading days). This measure helps traders identify unusual trading activity.

Relative Volume (RVOL) = Current Volume / Average Volume

Interpretation:

RVOL > 1: Higher than usual trading volume — indicates significant interest and the likelihood of a price movement.

RVOL < 1: Lower than usual trading volume — indicates low interest or activity.
