Mr. Trump threatens to impose a 50% tariff on Chinese goods

President Trump announced that if China does not retract its announcement of a 34% tariff on American goods in retaliation for the reciprocal tariff imposed last week with a deadline of April 8, the United States will impose an additional 50% tariff on goods imported from China starting April 9.

Mr. Trump also threatened to end all ongoing negotiations between the U.S. and China.

Since the beginning of the trade war in February, the Trump administration has imposed a 10% tariff on Chinese goods twice, plus a reciprocal tariff of 34% last week. If the threat of an additional 50% tariff becomes a reality, goods imported from China to the U.S. will face a tax of up to 104%. 😵
