Here comes another veteran to chat with you!

Having entered the crypto world, I specifically chose to focus on the gamefi / play-to-earn sector because it’s more interesting, allowing me to earn money while playing (self-deceiving…). Of course, I still haven’t recouped my investment so far…
However, the veteran still believes that web 3 gaming is indeed a major trend that the entire gaming industry will gradually evolve towards.

In May 2022, the veteran began researching play-to-earn games, and before I knew it, almost three years have passed… But in the crypto world, a day feels like ten years in reality; it seems like it was a long time ago…
In the past, three prominent figures in web 3 gaming had a profound influence on me, making me realize why web 3 gaming has potential and will continue to develop.

The first is Yat Siu, the founder of Animoca Brands. He often mentions a very important core value in many public occasions and interviews: that players and internet users can truly own digital asset rights. This 'right' is a crucial foundation for any web 3 game/economy. If the project team does not take this 'right' seriously, nothing can be established.
Animoca Brands has invested in over 540 web 3 projects in the past 10 years since 2014.
What reason do we ordinary citizens have to look down on the market?
If some newcomers/web 2 folks want to understand web 3 projects, I highly recommend first looking into the projects that Animoca Brands focuses on and invests in. It's not guaranteed that you will earn or anything, but at least the project team shares the important core value of digital asset rights in line with Animoca.

The second figure is Daniel from Supervillain Labs. I got to know him because of Gran Saga: Unlimited, a web 3 game that unfortunately came to an abrupt end. Because of this game, I felt that web 3 games can indeed be fun~! At that time, even wandering around the game aimlessly was very enjoyable; it was a pleasure due to the top-notch art and music~! Plus, the team would participate in testing, communicate with everyone, and fight alongside us (they were in invincible mode chasing players). The game also highlighted the status of KOLs/content creators, had growth features, and could give team members buffs, allowing us to team up for dungeons or group battles in PVP areas. The community atmosphere was unprecedentedly high. I believe those who participated in the GSU testing would deeply resonate with this...
Additionally, those who have read Daniel's posts on X know that he also made money by playing on behalf of others in so-called studios during his student days. So, he understands very well what the off-market economy in the web 2 gaming scene is like. (If interested, you can refer to this post: https://x.com/0xDan1el/status/1755590280378798316...)
Therefore, I am looking forward to their developing projectARK. Of course, it should still take another two to three years before its release, but I believe the close alpha test should still be conducted within 2025. If you participated in their first Supervillain Wanted AMA after party, you should have great confidence in their projectARK~!
Given that there are such project teams, how can we players look down on the market?

The third figure is Sean Pinnock, the CEO of Avalon. Besides his insights on digital asset rights, the most important thing is that he is practically taking step-by-step actions to realize what he believes in and bringing it to all MMORPG fans. Those who have seen me translate Sean's posts and AVALON's tweets should understand the philosophy behind this metaverse, which hopes for a game to thrive in harmony with players and creators.
Since Sean has loved creating Warcraft mods since middle school, he wants to use AVALON to realize that dream. Games should belong to everyone, not just the game companies. Thus, AVALON aims to develop into a DAO and operate jointly with the community.
Given that there are such utopian idealistic project teams, how can we players look down on the market?

Therefore, whether chain games are dead or if it’s a false proposition is not important, because it is not us retail investors or players who decide. It is those who continue to burn money, work tirelessly coding, and keep building, who will write the history of the web 3 gaming world~!
