#TRUMP 🚨NEWS ALERT🚨 📢 The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said he is "very upset" and "furious" with Russian President Vladimir Putin after weeks of trying to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine.🙊🙉🙈😃😎🤔
In an interview with NBC News this Sunday (3/30), the president stated he is upset with Putin for attacking the credibility of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and threatened to impose a 50% tariff on countries that purchase Russian oil if he does not agree to the ceasefire.
"If Russia and I cannot come to an agreement to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I think the blame lies with Russia - which may not be... I will impose secondary tariffs... on all oil coming from Russia," he said.
The comments mark a shift in Trump's tone towards Putin and Russia.
So far, Russia and Ukraine have only reached an agreement for a ceasefire in the sea region that borders both countries.
European leaders were concerned that Trump was getting closer to Putin while negotiations for a ceasefire in Ukraine continued.
In the last six weeks, Trump has criticized Zelensky in the Oval Office and demanded several concessions from the Ukrainian president. In turn, he has flattered Putin and largely yielded to the Russian president's demands.
This seems to be a change in that dynamic. It is the first time that the United States has seriously threatened Russia with consequences for delaying ceasefire negotiations, which appears to place the diplomatic responsibility back in Moscow's hands.
NBC News reported that in a 10-minute phone interview, Trump said he was very upset when Putin criticized Zelensky's leadership credibility, although the president himself has called the Ukrainian leader a dictator and demanded that he hold elections.
