Carlos and María were a young, happy couple living in Madrid, Spain. Carlos, an entrepreneur passionate about cryptocurrencies, had been saving for years in a Bitcoin wallet with the dream of buying a house. One day, he decided to move all his savings to another wallet for greater security. However, as he was overwhelmed with work, he asked his girlfriend María to handle the transfer for him.
María, although not an expert in cryptocurrencies, agreed to help Carlos with much love. He gave her the address of the new wallet and explained step by step how to make the transaction. María carefully copied the address —or so she thought— and proceeded to send the funds. But, due to a slip-up, she pasted an incorrect address. When she pressed "send," all of Carlos's savings vanished into an unknown address on the blockchain, lost forever in the vast digital limbo.
Days later, Carlos checked the new wallet and noticed that the funds never arrived. Upon investigating, he discovered the error: the address did not match. His savings, which represented years of effort and sacrifice, had disappeared without any possibility of recovery. María, realizing her mistake, was devastated. She apologized again and again, but the damage was done.
The loss hit Carlos hard, who had planned to use that money to take the next step in his life. Guilt consumed María, and the relationship between them began to fracture. Although Carlos knew that María hadn't done it on purpose, he couldn't help but feel a mix of frustration and sadness every time he looked at her.
