III. Consensus Mechanism
Question 21: What consensus mechanism does SCDO use?
Answer: SCDO adopts an improved proof of work consensus mechanism called ZPoW (Zero Proof-of-Work) consensus. Essentially, ZPoW falls under the PoW category but has been optimized to address the issues present in traditional PoW (such as power monopoly and resource waste).
All nodes in the SCDO network participate in block generation competition through hash computation, and the successful ones gain the accounting rights and block rewards for the new block. Although it is still 'computational power that speaks' in principle, SCDO has made innovative improvements to the details of the PoW algorithm, making the competition among miners fairer, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly. It is important to emphasize that the SCDO mainnet **does not use Proof of Stake (PoS)** or Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus but chooses to adhere to the PoW route while significantly enhancing the fairness and security of PoW through ZPoW.
