Pi Network recently updated its approach to account verification as part of the ongoing transition to mainnet. Initially, Pi accounts used phone numbers for identification, but SMS verification proved unreliable and costly, especially due to global telecommunications variations. To improve security and reliability, Pi is shifting to email-based two-factor authentication (2FA), which will eventually support advanced methods like biometrics and passkeys. However, some users hadn't linked emails or had issues with their existing email addresses. To ensure a smooth migration, Pi paused the process temporarily for system checks. Migrations have now resumed, with gradual expansion as email verifications and 2FA are completed. Pi Network is committed to ensuring a secure transition for all users.
