The winner of the Club World Cup will receive up to $125 million in prize money
On March 26, FIFA announced that the team that wins this year's championship in the Club World Cup, which has increased the number of teams, will receive up to $125 million in prize money. It was announced on Wednesday.
The tournament, which will be held in the United States from June 14 to July 13, has already announced a billion dollars in total prize money, but now FIFA has revealed the detailed breakdown of the amounts for the 32 teams that will compete.
Each team will be allocated $525 million for the competition, and another $475 million will be allocated based on performance in the tournament.
The team that wins the last seven games can earn up to $125 million, along with additional bonuses.
Europe will receive the largest share of prize money, with each of their clubs receiving between $12.81 million and $38.19 million. Exact amounts will be determined based on sporting and economic criteria.
Each South American team will receive $15.21 million in tournament participation bonuses. North and Central America; the caribbean Asian and African teams will receive $9.55 million each.
Auckland City, representing Oceania, will receive $3.58 million for their participation.
"This distribution shows the highest prize money ever awarded for a tournament that includes a group stage and a knockout stage," FIFA president Gianni Infantino said in a press release.
"In addition to the prize money set for participating clubs, there will be an unprecedented solidarity program with the aim of distributing an additional $250 million to the global football industry." he said.
Infantino said all profits from the tournament would be redistributed to club football.
