Brazil and Japan signed ten cooperation agreements in areas such as trade, industry, and the environment, as well as 80 instruments between subnational entities. They also announced a plan of action to revitalize the Global Strategic Partnership.

During President Lula's state visit to Japan, he met with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. Lula emphasized the importance of learning from Japan's advancements and caring for Brazilians residing in the country.

Agreements were signed on sustainable fuels, industrial integration, science, technology and innovation, recovery of degraded lands, the environment, education, information and communication technology, digital inclusion, reduction of water-related disaster risks, and health.

Lula mentioned Japan's decision to increase the use of biofuels, paving the way for cooperation in the energy transition. He also highlighted Japan's contribution to the Amazon Fund and called for ambitious targets at COP30.

Brazil hopes to negotiate a trade agreement between Japan and Mercosur. Trade between Brazil and Japan can be increased, and Ishiba highlighted direct investments from Japanese companies in Brazil.

Lula and Ishiba agreed that sustainability, peace, and democracy are essential for the future of the planet and discussed ongoing crises and wars, such as in Ukraine and the Middle East.
