Chancellor affirms that in Argentina contracts can be agreed in bitcoin.

The chancellor of Argentina, Diana Mondino, confirmed that in that country contracts can be agreed in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This was stated through his X account (formerly Twitter).

Mondino, who heads Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said:

“We ratify and confirm that in Argentina contracts can be agreed in Bitcoin”

And then he went further, and clarified:

“And also any other crypto and/or species such as kilos of steer or liters of milk.”

It should be noted that, in this context, he mentioned Article 766 in the following way:

“Obligation of the debtor. The debtor must deliver the corresponding amount of the designated currency, whether the currency is legal tender in the Republic or not.”
