#SECCryptoRoundtable
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched a series of roundtable discussions titled "Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity," aiming to engage with industry stakeholders and the public to refine cryptocurrency regulations. The inaugural session, held on March 21, 2025, focused on "How We Got Here and How We Get Out – Defining Security Status."
Commissioner Hester M. Peirce, leading the SEC's Crypto Task Force, emphasized the importance of public engagement in shaping effective regulatory frameworks. She stated, "I am looking forward to drawing on the expertise of the public in developing a workable regulatory framework for crypto."
The roundtable featured prominent legal experts, including Miles Jennings, General Counsel at a16z crypto, and Sarah Brennan, General Counsel at Delphi Ventures, who discussed the classification of digital assets under current securities laws.
The SEC's initiative represents a shift from enforcement-driven approaches to collaborative dialogue, aiming to balance investor protection with innovation in the crypto industry. Recordings of the roundtable are available on the SEC's website for public viewing.
