#SECCryptoRoundtable
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has initiated a series of roundtable discussions, titled "Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity," to address cryptocurrency regulation. The inaugural session, "How We Got Here and How We Get Out – Defining Security Status," took place on March 21, 2025, at the SEC's headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Led by Commissioner Hester Peirce, the SEC's newly established Crypto Task Force aims to develop a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets. The roundtable series seeks to engage industry leaders, regulators, and legal experts in discussions to provide clearer guidelines for the crypto industry.
The March 21 session was livestreamed, with a recorded version available for later viewing. While the main discussion was public, closed-door breakout sessions allowed for candid exchanges among participants.
This initiative reflects a shift in the SEC's approach, moving from enforcement actions to proactive engagement with the crypto community. The goal is to balance investor protection with fostering innovation within the digital asset space.
