Bitcoin is drying up and new money is somewhere else Bitcoin ($BTC ) saw a slight gain Friday morning after mostly steady movement through the week, as tensions in the Middle East kept traders cautious. Despite a small 0.23% drop over 30 days, Bitcoin closed the last seven days in green. Analysts say retail traders are stepping back while whales—large holders—are quietly guiding the market. Santiment’s on-chain data shows 231 new wallets holding over 10 BTC, a 0.15% rise, while smaller wallets (0.001 to 10 BTC) dropped by about 37,465 in 10 days. Historically, when whales accumulate as retail fades, a bullish move often follows. CryptoQuant data reveals short-term holders now have about 4.5 million BTC, down 0.8 million since May 27. Demand momentum fell by 2 million BTC, reaching its lowest level ever, signaling low fresh capital inflows. US Spot Bitcoin ETFs still attract funds but at a slower pace: last week $1.02 billion inflows vs. $1.39 billion the week before, nearly 60% lower than April, despite nine straight days of positive inflows. Glassnode reports Bitcoin network activity quieter in 2025, with daily transactions between 320,000 and 500,000—down from 734,000 peak in 2023-24—mainly due to fewer non-monetary transactions like ordinals. Still, daily value transfers average $7.5 billion, with an average transaction value of $36,200, showing major players remain active. Transactions over $100K now make up 89% of total volume, compared to 66% at end of 2022. In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin jumped from $104K to about $106,029 while trading volume dropped 18% to $37.4 billion. Overall crypto market cap rose slightly to $3.29 trillion with $86.5 billion trading volume. Bitcoin dominance stands at 64.2%, with neutral market sentiment as traders watch closely.
