Hotel rates were shockingly exaggerated—one modest hiking lodge saw its price jump from $489 to an outrageous $1,866 per night, while a simple glamping site surged from $216 to $794.

The Line, once hailed as a revolutionary 100-mile urban marvel, is now facing drastic downscaling. Current plans suggest that only 1.5 miles of the project will be completed within the next decade. Even proposals to reduce the tower heights from 1,600 feet to 1,000 feet met with fierce resistance from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, signaling internal friction and the weight of unrealistic expectations.
Despite the setbacks, project leaders remain publicly optimistic. Denis Hickey, head of The Line’s development, boldly stated, "We’ll start to go vertical—hopefully—by the end of this year." But behind the scenes, skepticism is mounting.
