BNB, originally Binance Coin, is the native cryptocurrency of the Binance ecosystem. Initially launched on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token in 2017, it later migrated to Binance's own blockchain, the Binance Chain, and subsequently the Binance Smart Chain (now BNB Chain).
BNB serves multiple purposes within the Binance ecosystem, including paying for trading fees on the Binance exchange, participating in token sales on the Binance Launchpad, and powering transactions on the BNB Chain. It also fuels various decentralized applications (dApps) built on the BNB Chain.
Its utility and the growth of the Binance ecosystem have contributed to BNB's popularity and market capitalization. As Binance expands its offerings, including decentralized finance (DeFi) and other blockchain-based services, BNB continues to play a central role.
