Studio Chain – The New Gaming Ecosystem of Arbitrum
Recently, Karrat Foundation, the organization behind the battle royale game My Pet Hooligan (MPH), announced a partnership with Arbitrum Foundation to launch Studio Chain—a dedicated blockchain for the gaming and entertainment industry.
#StudioChain is built on Arbitrum's layer-2 technology on Ethereum, aiming to develop a Web3 ecosystem where video games can integrate asset tokenization, IP ownership, and decentralized funding models.
In this ecosystem, My Pet Hooligan will play the leading gaming role, while the KARRAT token will become the center of the economy within Studio Chain.
Why is Studio Chain Highly Anticipated?
According to Jack Fitzpatrick, Partner Manager at Offchain Labs:
"Studio Chain and My Pet Hooligan bring a rich repository of content and culture that we are excited to add to the Arbitrum ecosystem. We look forward to the creative experiences this collaboration will bring."
Not just a blockchain supporting games, Studio Chain also has the backing of AMGI Studios, the studio developing My Pet Hooligan, with notable investors like Paris Hilton and Coldplay.
According to Luke Paglia, co-founder and COO of AMGI Studios:
"By leveraging Arbitrum's robust infrastructure, we can create unprecedented gaming experiences. My Pet Hooligan is just the beginning—this partnership will enable asset ownership in games, expand player interaction, and enhance interactivity between platforms."
Web3 Gaming Comes to Console: Xbox and PC Set to Welcome My Pet Hooligan
One of the most notable steps is that Studio Chain will help My Pet Hooligan expand to Xbox and many other PC platforms in the near future. However, Web3 elements will not directly appear in the game on Xbox, but will be managed through the My Pet Hooligan web portal.
"This means that Web3 assets like NFTs and tokens will be reflected in the Web3 environment, while any changes to the status or balance of assets can be synchronized across platforms," a game representative shared with Decrypt.
By combining AMGI's proprietary architecture and the KARRAT protocol, Studio Chain can enable Web3 features without disrupting the traditional gaming experience.
How is Web3 Gaming Changing?
Gaming #Web3 on console is still a controversial topic. Some projects like Moonray (Ethereum) launched on console but did not integrate crypto elements, while Off the Grid (Xbox, PS5) is still in the process of deploying the Avalanche blockchain system to support transactions and tokens.
However, Studio Chain does not aim to directly compete with other gaming blockchains like Ronin or Abstract, but rather to complement and create a distinct ecosystem for Web3 entertainment.
"This is not a race of 'which chain is faster,' but about being the leading blockchain for entertainment innovation," a representative from Karrat Foundation shared.
They also emphasized that the traditional entertainment industry is facing difficulties:
"Studios are closing, laying off staff, high barriers to entry, and tight control over IP are stalling the industry. As Web3 continues to evolve, Studio Chain will be the solution for creators willing to embrace change."
Conclusion
Studio Chain and My Pet Hooligan have the potential to be a major breakthrough in Web3 gaming, not only providing a new experience for players but also giving content creators more control over their IP and digital assets.
The combination of #Arbitrium , Karrat Foundation, and AMGI Studios could open a new chapter for the Web3 gaming industry. Could this be the model of 'gameplay combined with decentralized finance' that the industry is looking for?
