Etherlink has launched its third protocol upgrade, Calypso, on the mainnet, significantly enhancing the performance of the Tezos layer 2 network.

The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible layer 2 solution built on Tezos $XTZ confirmed the Calypso upgrade went live on March 12, following its recent testnet deployment. Before reaching the mainnet, the upgrade underwent a governance vote by Tezos bakers, key participants who support the network alongside Tezos nodes.

With the approval secured, Calypso is now live, bringing improvements such as increased network speed, resilience, and efficiency for decentralized application developers. The upgrade also enables faster $XTZ withdrawals from Etherlink to the Tezos network.
