Be quiet, small man." – These were Elon Musk’s words to Poland’s Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski.
If this is how he treats high-ranking officials, just imagine how he views the rest of us…
Pride comes before the fall.
I was considering buying a Tesla Model S Plaid, but I’m backing out. As a “small person”, I feel unworthy of Elon’s attention…
UPDATE: For those unfamiliar with the situation, here’s the context:
Musk’s harsh response came after Sikorski said:
"The ethics of threatening the victim of aggression apart, if SpaceX proves to be an unreliable provider, we will be forced to look for other suppliers."
Why?
Eutelsat is ready to step in and replace Starlink in providing internet to Ukraine. This challenges Musk’s claim that Starlink is irreplaceable—and that has major business implications.
The military use of Starlink is a lucrative opportunity. If Starlink’s credibility is shaken, it could jeopardize Musk’s future defense contracts. Especially given that withdrawing internet service during an ongoing conflict raises concerns about connectivity being used as a political tool.
Musk is already facing setbacks:
Starlink contracts lost (Canada, Mexico, Italy, Spain) Tesla shares down nearly 38% this year Starship’s latest test ended in an explosion over the Bahamas Maybe that’s why he’s a little on edge…
EDIT: Yes, there was an error—Sikorski is currently Minister of Foreign Affairs, not Defense. He held the Defense position in a previous government. Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts, I haven’t been able to correct this since yesterday.
