BNB (Build and Build) is the native cryptocurrency of the Binance ecosystem, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. Initially launched in 2017 as "Binance Coin," BNB was created as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum but later migrated to Binance's own blockchain, Binance Chain, and now also runs on Binance Smart Chain (BSC). BNB is used to pay for trading fees on Binance at a discounted rate, participate in token sales, and for various decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. It also powers smart contracts and NFTs on BSC, making it a versatile utility token within the crypto space.
